Porsche has claimed that its new 2010 911 Turbo is 10 seconds faster around the ‘Ring compared to the non-facelifted model. The new 2010 911 Turbo goes around the Nurburgring in 7m 39 seconds.

For the 2010 model year, the 911 Turbo gets an extra 20 bhp, courtesy  the bigger direct injected 3.8 litre version of Porsche’s classic flat six-cylinder engine with revised variable vane turbochargers instead of the regular 3.6 litre. Apart from the engine upgrade the 2010 911 Turbo also gets better handling and the optional seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox. With all this Porsche has also managed to shave off some 25 kgs from the overall weight of the car.

Earlier this year Nissan announced that GT-R had bettered its own record at the Nurburgring, setting a blistering lap time of 7m  27.56 seconds in the hands of Toshio Suzuki, a former formula 1 racing driver.  The 2010 Series II GT-R features revised dual-clutch gearbox, updated launch control, revised suspension and an extra 5 bhp from the engine. The previous lap time for the GT-R stood at 7m 29sec.
