ALL ABOUT YAMAHA YZF R15

After years of passing us measly 125cc 4 Strokes, boffins at Yamaha have finally woken up from their slumber. They have finally given us a product which stands up to the Yamaha name, after the legendry RX 100 and The RD 350, The YZF R15. Yamaha likes to call this bike a unique no compromise machine for road riders ready to accept the challenge of a race track and why not.

The bike comes with a state of the art 150cc engine loaded to gills with race bred technology, gathered over a period of 50 years in Racing. The bike has the racing DNA of the global R series (The R1’s and the R6’s) with the spirit of competition living in every component of the bike.

Lets start with technology, most of which is carried over from the global R series bikes:

Fuel Injection: The engine comes with Fuel Injection having a six-hole type injector backed with ECU and Sensors to maximise combustion at any rpm.

Front Fairing to keep wind blast away from the ride at high speeds and it wind tunnel desgined to provide least wind resistence. Flash surface dual headlights.

Light and highly rigid Delta Box frame, also used on all Yamaha R and GP series bikes.

Link type monocross rear suspension resistent to bottoming out when riding two up.

Front and Rear disc brakes.

Optimized riding position.

Liquid cooling with highly efficient compact radiator to maximise performance.

6 Speed Transmission with optimized gear ratios 1 through to 6th gear for performance and city riding and absence of any flat spots.

Forged piston which enables lighter pistion design hence reduces the reciprocating mass by over 20% and high revving engine. Its the same as the R1 piston design.

High Performance DiASil Cylinder produced by yamaha’s casting technology resulting in 60% improved cooling efficiency and reduced weight by over 30%. Fine surface processing  also inhibits oil vapourization from the cylinder surface, thus improving oil economy.

4 valve Head featuring centralized spark plug enabling more efficient flame spread and complete combustion. Hemi-Spherical combustion chamber with centered plug layout.

Yamaha also plans to market off the shelf accesories for the YZF R15 which wll include the following components.

Yamaha this time around has left no stone unturned in providing us a bike which encompasses all the attributes the  Yamaha name stands for, throughtout the world.

We just cant wait to lay our hands on this one.

Coming soon….. all about FZ 150… Keep Visiting our website.

Any idea if the frame is aluminum or is it just painted to look like aluminum. Also, does the engine have a balancer.

This baby costs 1 lakh 10 thousand in delhi all taxes included (ex showroom price 1,06,000) and u can only get it on full cash payment of the same .no finance schemes for atleast 3 months , sort of pisses people off so it isn’t everyones pie only the guys with really heavy pockets get to get this babe first. Its only coming out in 3 colors royal black, candy red and arctic blue. graphics are pretty amazing …..the dealer only told it is 150cc, both disc brakes, digital odometer, 6 gears, cross suspension , delta box frame and its 20 bhp same as p220 ,only p220 is cheaper and easily financed now(for those who dont want a heavily priced 150cc bike like the r15). bookings are on and i hope to get mine by june 22 arctic blue wow………..its gonna be a great bike to my bike collection. fellow bikers can mail me for details at ritesh_solo@yahoo.co.in…..take care ciao.
