ALL NEW FORD IKON LAUNCHED!
Ford in a bid to capture the midsize segment has launched the refreshed Ikon which now comes with a very competent diesel option. The engine is the same unit as in the Fiesta with 68 ps of maximum power @ 4000 rp, and 160 nm of torque @ 2000 rpm.
Although down on power compared to the competition, the engine is one of the most refined diesel in the country and has great driveability. The fuel consumption is also very good and it will be even better in the lighter body shell of the Ikon.
The new Ikon also boasts a freshened exterior design with distinct European cues. From the sharper new hood design and striking new headlamps to the all-new front bumper with its larger lower grille and European design cues, the new Ikon presents a fresh face but one that is instantly recognisable.
The new dual-tone beige interiors harmonise beautifully with the new seats and door trim. Rear seat comfort continues to be class-leading in the entry B-car segment.
The new, modern instrument cluster on the diesel variant incorporates new graphics, tachometer, LED needles and LCD odometer display.

The new Ikon has been priced at Rs. 4.59 Lakhs for the Petrol and a very competitive Rs. 5.19 Lakhs for the Diesel, all prices Ex-Showroom, Delhi.
The new Ikon comes in a total of 7 color options - Morello, Diamond White, Panther Black, Moondust Silver, Paprika Red, Platinum and Brush Steel.

thats a great news. the pricing is simply superb and should be a catch. the engine is good one but the only thing comes with maintenance. should see how ford manages it out. i think its definetely a better option than its competitors. good luck IKON
new ikon is awesum…..but again the maintanence…….??? the pricin is fantastic…..it is 5,91,000 on road in chennai for the diesel version………..good job ford india……..
Car looks nice. Lets see if it will sell better than the present model.
The only way for it to sell is make sure that the queue for dezire remains long enough coz if that was not the case this car will see its death real soon …..
hey naveen dont say its awesome car the still dosent have airbags abs as standard or option we indians with no comon sence cheap knowledge we want more fuel efficient but no safety thats why india tops no 1 in road accidents in the world ,160 plus people die on indians roads dailys shame on us

but “ford” dont u ever try to recover the cost of the car in 3 free services or accident repairs. ur cheap cars r very costly to maintain, as costly as benz.
but still worth because it is equally cheaper like indigo

only safety features in cars doesn’t help avoid road accidents, peoples common sense while driving, following traffic rules, roads, infrastructure also play a important role in the number of accidents that take place. btw, ikon is an old platform, including airbags, abs would mean redesigning the whole steering column, ecu sensors, dashboard, suspension among other things. if they were do this, they won’t be able to price it competitively. and may b ford has a strategy to first launch this version and than later on add these safety features and other options and price it a little bit higher..mind well doing this could also enter dangerously into fiesta category.

If Ford will give u airbags & ABS @ 5.19 + diesel engine their children will die with hunger.

Undoubtedly its a great deal …compared to Logan (which shld hv been launched in 1980s) , most under performing sedan Indigo & ugliest sedan world has ever seen Dzire …… good job Ford ( for pricing … rest is to be seen)

Its a good news… that a new diesel car comes in 5.90 on road in chennai its great…… on comparing other cars like swift,india,ect…………

Whatever it’s performance may be ; It’s very stylish and elegant looking
Mileage said to be 21KMPL on standard road test condition.
So it shld be 15 to 18 KMPH .
ben, fact remains that compared to other brands such as maruti,hyundai, honda…ford and gm are notorious for higher maintainence of vehicles. do agree that the pricing is very good, even the vehicle is also very good, but its sore point is its maintainence with very less service centers, tacky technical engineers who fail to find root cause of a minor problem and not to mention higher cost of spares. but we do hope that they improve with time.
