The black prancing horse on a canary yellow background is the internationally understood insignia of the world’s most revered sports car brand, The Ferrari. In less than a fortnight two of these Ferrari’s will undertake a two-and-a-half month ‘Magic Of India’ tour which will be officially kicked off from Mumbai. The Ferrari’s will also be joined by two new FIAT’s, the Cinquecento and the Bravo which would be launched shortly in India as niche segment automobiles, paving the way for the more main stream models to be  launched later this year, namely the Linea saloon and the Grand Punto hatch. The move is a part of the Fiat India’s promotional blitz to announce its second coming in the Indian market.

“This is the Magic of India drive which will begin from Mumbai by the end of this month. From Mumbai, it will go south, then east and across the rest of the country,” Rajeev Kapoor, CEO, Fiat India said, immediately adding, “There are no plans to bring the Ferrari to India.”

The Ferrari’s may not be scorching the Indian roads just as yet, another of Fiat’s upmarket brand, The Alfa Romeo is certainly coming, by the last quarter of this calender year. Fiat is currently evaluating the Indian market and the price points and a study is already underway. They hope to finalize the plans by the middle of this year, so as to launch the car in the last quarter of this year. The Alfa Romeo sells at almost the same price point as the other german saloons in international market, so expect them to be priced b/w 27-42 lakh rupees, depending on the model. We would love ot get our hands on the Alfa Romeo 159 which has been declared by many as the best looking sedan in the world.

Fiat India’s new CEO Mr. Rajeev Kapoor conceeded that the Magic of India tour is indeed a part of the brands promotional activity in India and will also help them to evaluate road conditions in the country. Fiat will also launch the Linea in the last quarter of this year, Grand Punto may come in a little later.
