AUDI R8 SOLD OUT EVEN BEFORE LAUNCH IN INDIA

 Audi R8

Audi’s all conquering R8 has conquered the Indian market too. With 15 orders already with Audi for its sportscar R8 which will be officially launched in November, the model is sold out for this year.

The Rs 1.3 Crore sportscar will be imported directly from Germany and will not be available for test drive. The car comes with a 4.2 Litre FSI V8 engine developing 420 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque and hence will not go through homologation or approval by authorities. The booking for the car started in June this year.

“In Germany, people have to wait for months for delivery of the R8. Since the car is partly handmade, the numbers are limited. The car is almost sold out globally this year,” said an Audi India spokesperson.

Audi has sold a total of 2,952 R8’s worldwide and it sells A8, Q7, A6, A4 and TT models in India. The company has 7 dealerships acorss the country and it plans to extend the count to 12 in the near future.

That is amazing, that Audi R8 is so widely popular, good luck to them. I can’t believe that they are sold out for the year, I did not relies that this car was mostly hand made, thats a very interesting fact.

Frankly I am not surprised. Fifteen is not a big number and I am sure there are those many super rich in India who follow Le Mans and know of the pedigree of the R8.

@Satish… Its a big number considering it costs more than Rs 1.3 Crore and there are no roads to actually drive it the way it should be.

@Sumit… Its not performance but the engine size due to which it doent have to go through homologation. For bikes it is 800cc and above.
