The basic proportion mimic the Mercedes rival with the cockpit stretching almost the length of the car and then tapering off at the rear. The Audi however looks more imposing and aggressive whilst the CLS screams sophisticated elegance.

The new Audi will be heavily influenced by the A5 coupe and will feature low ride a height and flared wheel arches, according to the sources. The Audi will also deliver the performance and driving experience worhthy of the dramatic styling.

The A7 will be based on the same chassis as the new A8, which means the rigid aluminium space frame body. The air suspension will be fitted as standard combined with Audi’s Drive select adaptive dampers which will offer a host of chassis and handling settigs.

The wide range of models will start from a base price of £45,000 with 6 engine options which include a trio of V6 diesels one of which is an all new 3.0 Litre twin-turbo. The petrol options include a V8 and a supercharged V6 unit.

A RS7 version may also follow which will feature supercar humbling RS6’s twin-turbo V10 with over 600 bhp!
