BMW’s TWIN TURBO V10 SUPERCAR IN 2012?

The big three from Germany (Merc, Audi, BMW) have most things in common. If Mercedes has the M class, BMW has the X5 and Audi rolls along with the Q7, each having their own USP’s. Same is the case in the luxury sedan segment, but there is one thing which the Bavarian company truely lacks, a range topping supercar. Mercedes has the Mclaren hypercar, Audi recently broke the shackles with the R8, Porsche has the iconic 911 Turbo and the GT2, leaving BMW with an open void.
If reports are to be believed BMW may finally move over the long gone M1 and may come up with its successor. This new anticipated BMW supercar will come with a twin-turbo version of the M5’s V10 engine producing an estimated 625 BHP’s, curiously mounted in the front (not mid-engined) driving the rear wheels. BMW would draw all its learnings from its association with the Sauber F1 team. The chassis will feature full carbon fibre construction along with high performance components, such as carbon ceramic disc brakes, kevlar bucket seats aimed at cutting down weight compared to the big, fat M6 Coupe. The sticker price would be equally exotic, although a relatively lower end, less exotic version, with a twin-turbo V8 is also being planned.
