This redention is the closest, we feel to the real thing i.e. the much touted and much publicised and Ratan Tata’s pet project, the TATA 1 Lakh car.

We will confirm once the delhi Auto Expo begins, when we will cover this car in some detail. I just hope its not a box on four wheels and has some sort of creature comforts, atleast Air Conditioning.

 Update: The car would be having a 760 cc petrol motor with a claimed mileage of 25 kmpl. Plastic has been used extensively for making body panels to keep weight and costs down. The upside is, in case minor nudges and scruff’s which are very common on Indian roads, the body wont be dented, the downside is the uncertainity as to how the general and largely ignorant Indian car buying public would take to a ‘plastic’ car. On the whole, the specs are not bad at all for a micro car priced close to 1 lakh rupees. Keep watching this space for more details on a car that could possibly change the value for money equation upside down.
