Fiat India has launched two premium models - Fiat 500 Cinquecento and Bravo. The company will be importing the two models and the first lot is expected to arrive by May this year. The cars will be fully customised.

The price for the two-door Italian designed Fiat 500 Cinquecento will come at a price tag of Rs 12 lakh, while Fiat Bravo, a sporty five-door hatchback, will cost close to Rs 16 lakh.

‘These two models should be seen as resurgence of the Fiat brand in India,’ said Fiat India Automobiles Pvt Ltd’s CEO Rajeev Kapoor.’We are only looking at niche customers for both the models since they are going to be customised cars,’ said Kapoor.

Fiat is riding the New 500 wave across Europe since its July 2007 launch and has also collected the coveted European Car of the Year 2008 award. The New 500 which mimics the classic Fiat 500 of yore (a minimalistic automobile for the masses like the Tata Nano) is a showcase of Italian style and packaging ability.

These two cars will pave the way for the launch of Fiat Linea sedan and the Grande Punto hatchback, which will be launched in September and December 2008, respectively.About 30 special outlets have been identified to sell the cars launched Friday.

According to the company, orders have already started pouring in. These two completely built units will join the Ferrari Magic India Discovery drive covering 11,000 km across the country starting from Mumbai Feb 25.
