Following his first ever pole position for the Force Indian formula 1 team, Fisichella went on to finish second place at the Belgium grand prix today. Fisichella in the process also helped Force India team score their first ever championship points in the F1 world champioships.
The closely fought race was won by Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen who finished just 0.9 seconds ahead of Force India’s Giancarlo Fisichella. Red Bull’s Sebestian Vettel came a close third, 2.9 seconds behind the Fisichella.
The drama started in the first lap itself when Jenson Button was spun out at Les Combes by Romain Grosjean’s Renault, ending any hopes he had of scoring a point. The same incident also saw Lewis Hamilton tagging Jaime Alguersuari’s Toro Rosso while trying to avoid the mayhem up ahead. Resuming after the safety car intervention, Raikkonen who had sped up to just a second behind Fisichella wasted no time in using KERS to sling shot past the italian in the fifth lap. Fisichella to his credit though pushed Kimi all the way finishing less than a second behind at the end.
