FORD INDIA CUTS IKON PRICE - LIMITED EDITION OFFER

In reaction to Marutin Suzuki’s latest Swift Dzire, Ford India has reduced Ikon price by around Rs 36,000 to Rs 4.49 lakh through a limited edition offer. By this move, Ford India also hopes to compete with Renault Logan, and Tata Indigo CS.

Ford is only having one Variant of its Ikon model and this model offers power steering, central locking and power windows at the reduced price. “This is a variable offer for a limited period. We want to create some excitement by attracting youth through this offer,” said a Ford India spokesperson.

Company has discontinued other variants and the sales have been under pressure for some time now. Sources indicate that Ikon price cut is a reaction to Maruti-Suzuki’s latest launch Dzire.

I dont think it can match the Indigo CS price. Newspaper ads today say it is available for 3.59 lakhs. But then price is not everything. But what else can the Ikon have going for it?

Well they are just doing clearance of the petrol version as the new Ikon is in the pipeline. Also diesel Ikon is expected. More new at http://thecarsandmore.blogspot.com/2008/03/new-ford-ikon-diesel-coming-soon.html

@fas… Even if they are coming with a the 1.4 Diesel, the petrol motor will remain the same. Dont expect the older 1.6 ROCAM to come into the engine bay again. Also the modifications will be limited to bonnet and bumpers. The changes to body shell are very expensive and not worth it to put it very simply.
