General Motors India has announced to offer Chevrolet Spark at a special price of Rs 2.66 lakh onwards (ex showroom New Delhi). Earlier Chevrolet Spark was priced at Rs 2.89 lakh for its base model. This base variant does not come with air-conditioning and power steering.

The company attrubutes this to the increased production capacity from its new plant. “The special price is the result of improved localisation of Spark coming out of operational efficiencies due to increase in production volume,” said Mr Ankush Arora, VP-Marketing, General Motors.

The car now comes almost Rs 55,000 cheaper than its last year’s launch price of Rs 3.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This is the second time the price of Spark has been reduced. The Spark model has sold over 20 lakh units in more than 100 markets across the world over last few years.

Other manufacturers are also floating attractive discount schemes. Maruti Alto and Zen Estilo small cars are available with a price waiver of up to Rs 52,000 while Mahindra Renault Logan discount is around Rs 50,000.
