GM TO ‘CAPTIVA’TE AUTOMATIC SOFT ROADER MARKET!

GM is getting increasingly competitive in the Indian market off late. Acting swiftly, the company is now gearing itself to launch the Automatic Transmission version of its soft roader, The Captiva, the only diesel soft-roader in its class.

Chevrolet Captiva Automatic

Captiva has been well received by the market, selling close to 200 units last month, second only to the Honda CR-V. However lack of Automatic Transmission has turned away some customers. Not in a mood to loose momentum, the company would be targetting these potential customers with its Automatic Offering.

The car was initially launched with Manual Transmission only and front wheel drive, but the Automatic version comes with four-wheel drive as standard. The Autobox is a fairly sophisticated unit and comes with 5-forward ratios and is geared to provide similar levels of performance and fuel efficiency as the manual variant.

The car is already undergoing homologation. The Auto box plus four wheel drive will surely add to the cost of the car… by how much? Its still unknown but going by the recent launches from GM, its expected to be ‘Very Competitive’.

thats kool. so more and more indians preferring automatics due to the traffic conditions in india. a automatic transmission with full time four wheel drive should cost abt 1.5 to 2 lakhs more than the normal version i guess. anything more than that would not attract the customers.
