GREEN CAR OF THE YEAR: VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI IS THE GREENEST OF EM’ ALL

 Volkswagen Jetta TDi wins the Green Car of the year 2009

Volkswagen’s humble Jetta saloon as won the Green Car Journal’s, Green Car of the year 2009. The turbo-diesel powered Jetta which was recently in news for a Guiness World Record for registering lowest fuel consumtion of 58.2 mpg while travelling through 48 continuous US States.

Jetta fended some strong competition like BMW 335D, Ford Fusion Hybrid, Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid and Smart for 2.

“The Volkswagen Jetta TDI rose to the top as Green Car Journal’s 2009 Green Car of the Year® for some very important reasons,” said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and editor of GreenCar.com.

“Hybrids have dominated the discussion of environmentally positive vehicles in recent years. The highly fuel efficient, 50 State emissions certified Jetta TDI shows that advanced clean diesel has arrived and is poised to change this dynamic. Volkswagen has already sold 8000 Jetta’s since it was launched in the US market in August 2008.

VW Jetta from the sedan segment is a great car. It was recently launched in india. It is good to know that Jetta falls in the ‘green field’. Hope more eco-friendly cars are introduced in india.
