THE ALL NEW HONDA CBF STUNNER TO DEBUT ON 30TH JUNE!

 HONDA_CBF_STUNNER_INDIA_PHOTO_IMAGE_PICTURE

As we reported earlier, Honda’s new bike 125 cc bike, the CBF Stunner is going to be launched by HMSI on 30th June 2008. Yes its coming early!

The Japanese two-wheeler company has been testing out this new motorcycle at its plant in Maneswar, Gurgaon. This bike was codenamed KWFA and is supposed to carry an ex-showroom price tag of around Rs 52,000.  The CBF Stunner that has been designed in Japan. The bike boasts of five gears and could be followed by a fuel-injected model, which company officials are calling the KWFF. With a 125 cc mill that churns out around 11 bhp, the bike sports a half fairing aka Hero Honda Karizma. The bike doesnt feature a monoshock rear suspension though, unlike the Unicorn which is dissapointing and a step back from the company.

The 125cc segment is currently dominated by Yamaha Gladiator, Hero Honda Super splendor, Bajaj XCD and TVS Flame. Society of India Automobile Manufacturer’s (SIAM) data shows that 125cc+ sales have grown by almost 15% over the period of April 2007-January 2008 while the 100cc segment has suffered a negative growth of over 21%.  So, the 125CC Segment is on “fire” right now.

With its racy styling and engine economy of a 125cc, Honda is targetting the young college going crowd who wants a good looking bike with adequate performance and good fuel efficiency. With the stagnant sales in the 100 cc bread and butter segment, almost every two-wheeler company is launching new models in the higher segment. TVS launched its Flame recently while Bajaj is readying the XCD Sprint again with more power compared to the regular XCD and better, racier styling to attract the youngsters.

What remains to be seen is if these slew of model launches from all the major manufacturers is able to arrest sliding sales? But in all this, its the customer who will benefit the most in terms of choice and value for money.

Yamaha has created a lot of hype before the launch of the R-15 and Honda has chosen to launch the CBF stunner quietly. Let us see how these two will do in the market place. The CBF seems to be carrying a premium tag if the price qouted is the right one.

Sadsack: That may be because new bottles for old wines can generate only so much hype… :D

Synn,I absolutely agree with you.C’mon Honda, why a 125cc ‘again’.I was hoping for a bike with atleast 150cc engine.I think the unicorn deserves that half fairing.

hey guys don’t you think 52000 is on the higher side compared to other bikes??
looks great though
hope it gives good mileage
i’m thinking of buying this or xcd sprint
any suggestions guys?
hope the bajaj guys get a move on now that everyone’s launched their 125 cc bike.

Synn, it seems we are a nation of teatotalers. We dont seem to care about the wine as long as it is packaged in an attractive bottle. Honda’s success flummoxes me completely because even the bottles are not always attractive. Maybe we should understand that the proof of the wine is in tasting it. But I dont see that happening very soon.

Synn and sadsack you guys are looking at the power factor much more than the other factors.i don’t think honda is trying to build sports bikes.they are trying to make no-nonsense and value for money bikes which is good to ride, good to see,and gives good mileage.they aren’t going all out for power.the unicorn is a great example.she gets beaten in the power segment by her competitors but beats them in all other aspects.

Hero Honda already caters to the “No nonsense”, “Value for money” bikes.. we certainly do not need another Honda to play for the masses..

Honda (HMSI) needs to keep its promise of bringing out “Aspirational” and “Premium” products.. and that definitely does not mean bring out just another Plastic Job with the same engine block.

Honda (HMSI) should take Yamah’s R15 for inspiration.

But sadly only when pushed to a corner.. these companies decide to do something.

hi payeng, glad to see you here.saw your website.i do agree with you on the engine front, that hmsi needs a change.but still that sort of a project takes time and in the meantime they are producing good allround bikes.i think have are the best engineers in the market today.bajaj seems to be producing only commuter bikes and has quality issues(more on the xcd, delivers great mileage though).pulsar is an exception.hh is good but its bikes are ageing and they need to change the whole lot except for maybe xtreme and hunk.in the 150cc category they are sacrificing mileage for performance. but still, ,honda is short on performance bikes and are playing for the volumes. you rightly say that honda has been pushed into a corner by yamaha and its high-time they do something about it.
By the way try to continue your website mate.a lot of us here follow it closely.

Honda is the largest engine and two wheeler manufacturer in the world and has been so for quite some time now. They have been in the Indian market for what, 6 years now? If that is not time and experience enough for “That kinda” project, I don’t know what is.

I have said this before and will say again. Honda could import the aging CB 400 (non VTEC) Dies, make them by the dozens like rabbits makin’ babies, sell them for a pretty packet and earn a hefty profit. But they won’t.

Coz as long as the sun rises in the east, Indians will continue asking “Average Kya Hain”.

The styling may appeal to some but I find it awkward and disproportionate. Almost like an amateurish attempt to improve the specs with only limited resources. Hardly something which one can look forward to from Honda. I only wish we have styling on the likes of the Honda CBR 125 R. That would have been heartwarming. Still … let’s wait and see. I could be wrong too !

synn, you are right and your quote,”Coz as long as the sun rises in the east, Indians will continue asking “Average Kya Hain”,actually stands out. We(atleast I) always expect some exciting machines from Honda, but no,they want to go the commuter way. When they first launched the Unicorn,I was in the impression that”this” is the company to look out for. But,alas, this is an another company which came in here “just” for volumes.I have lost the respect I had for this company i.e the Indian subsidy of Honda.

synn you hit the nail on the head. Average Kya Hai.HONDA GUYS KNOW THAT INDIANS ASK THIS QUESTION A LOT.THEY ARE NOT FOOLS.THAT IS WHY THEY ARE NOT TAKING THE RISK OF BRINGING THESE BIKES INTO INDIA.ONCE THE COMPANY’S IMAGE DECLINES IN THE MARKET,IT STAYS DOWN FOR QUITE SOME TIME.LOOK AT YAMAHA FOR EXAMPLE. ONLY 3 PERCENT MARKET SHARE TILL NOW.AND TO THINK THEY BROUGHT THE WHOLE BIKING REVOLUTION INTO INDIA WITH THE RX SERIES. BUT INDIAN BIKING AND INDIAN BIKERS ARE EVOLVING, SO WHO KNOWS MAYBE WE’LL HAVE A 300CC BIKE FROM HONDA AS EARLY AS NEXT YEAR.LET’S HOPE FOR THE BEST.

it will be available in the end of this month. comparing prices of petrol this one is best to give fuel efficiency ad some what moderate look. i want all of u to ask a question whether it is best to buy a good looking bike at more than 70,000 bugs giving 35-40 kms is best or buying a good looking bike at 52,000 bugs giving milage somewhat between 60-65 km? answer my question remember now petrol price is 55 rs per litre and it will increase but never decrease think it

Dear Rach, If you tall & large, forget R15. It really looks small on the road. P220 can save you some money if you really likes it looks. it can give you good 5 years service & then it will be time to change. Quality wise R15 is exceedingly good. Good luck.

stunner is not a good bike if all things matter for you if only look matters than its great.
bike vibrates so badly just above 50 kmph and seems so uncomfortable while running 50 kmph.
rear suspension is also not great i think bajaj CT 100 have better than the stunner.
