Honda Hikes Prices Across The Board!
Honda Siel Motors India have increased the prices of its cars, City, Accord, Civic and CR-V.
The prices for the bread and butter saloon City have gone up by Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 while the Civic is now costlier by Rs 50,100 to Rs 63,000. The luxury saloon Accord now costs a whopping 1 lakh rupee more which is nothing compared to the Rs 3.54 Lakh rupee increase in the price of the CBU CR-V!
Commenting on the price increase, Mr Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President, Marketing, said, “The rupee has depreciated by over 16% vs USD in the past 8 months. On the other hand, the Japanese Yen has strengthened by 10.5% during this period. These currency fluctuations have resulted in tremendous increase in cost of imports impacting the bottom lines, but so far, we have refrained from passing them on to the customer. But it is not possible to absorb the impact any more.â€Â The revised prices for City, Civic and CR-V will be effective from April 1, 2009 and for Accord from March 16, 2009.

its very bad. especially in this recession. i think it creates a negative effect on honda and especially the crv buyers
I think we Indians should get used to price fluctuations now that we are firmly entwined with the global economy. Maybe purchase cars when the prices are brought down. But then that kind of planning may not always be possible.
I dont know what to comment. I guess Honda should think about different strategy to address the $ vs Rs fluctuations. Passing on the burden directly to the customer is not quite right.
Honda.. be prepared to see your sales/booking curve dropping exponentially after April’2009.
Indian customers should wake up. Dont get mesmerised by the brand name.
I GOT LUCKY! Just took the delivery of my 1.8V MT 3 days back.. saved …
