HONDA LAUNCHES LIMITED EDITION CIVIC ‘SPORT’, CROSSES 3 LAKH IN SALES!

Honda Civic Sports

Honda has launched the sports version of the Civic they showed at the Auto Expo, the Civic Sport today. The car is launched as a limited edition model to commemorate Honda’s milestone of selling 3 Lakh cars in India.

As is the case with ’sports’ versions of the plain jane saloons in India, there will be no engine or suspension upgrade whatsoever, so all those hoping for a Type-R with the 2.0 Litre revvy monster can now sleep easy.

The car comes with sporty granishings in the form of front and rear spoilers, a subtle body kit, white alloy wheels and sports badging so you still get the show but the enthusiasts hoping for ‘go’ have been dissapointed yet again. The car also has the usual ‘V’ variant standard features like the Climate Control AC and a 6 CD changer.

Honda launched its first car in India in 1997 though the company had entered into a joint venture with Siddharth Shriram Group company in 1995 to form Honda Siel Cars India.

“We have crossed three lakh units since inception in India. To commemorate this achievement, we are launching a sports variant of sedan Civic,” an HSCI official said.

“The sports Civic will be of limited edition,” the official added.

Till date Honda has already made an investment of 1620 Crores and will pump in further 1000 Crores to set up its plant in Rajasthan. The company has a current production capacity of 100,000 units.

Good move by Honda, but they could have got more sales, if they launched diesel variants.
