HYUNDAI VI EQQUS SUCCESSOR GUNS FOR GERMAN FLAGSHIPS
Hyundai has released a teaser image of what will its new flagship sedan and will replace its ageing front wheel drive Eqqus, already on sale for over 9 years in Korea. Code named VI, the car would be the most powerful and luxurious sedan ever built by Hyundai.
According to latest reports and spy pics, the new Eqqus successor has entered its final stage of testing and will make its world premier in February 2009, in Korea, Hyundai’s home market. Unlike the Eqqus, the VI is based on a rear wheel drive architecture and Hyundai is hoping to take on rivals like the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7-Series, Lexus LS460 and the Audi A8.

The new VI will showcase all the advanced and latest Hyundai technologies which means another set of Acronyms. Among its more sophisticated features is a second generation Vehicle Stability Management System (VSM2), a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) which employes vision sensors to monitor traffic lane markers and a Pre-Safety Seatbelt System which automatically reels in safefy belts in case it senses an imminent collision to maximize the safety of the occupants.
The car will be available with a choice of powerful high-tech engines which include a 5.0 Litre Tau with 400-420 bhp on tap, a larger 5.5 Litre as well as a smaller 4.6 Litre engine. All the engines will feature advanced technologies like cylinder de-activation when running at a constant speed or on part throttle to decrease fuel consumption and possibly an integrated supercharger. The top speed will be limited to 250 km/h. The car measures a total of 5160mm, 1900 wide with a wheelbase of 3045 mm. The company might also consider bulding a long wheelbase version for even more luxury.
