Mahindra has launched two new variants of its best selling SUV, the Scorpio, VLS and SLE. Criticized for launching the 2.2 mHawk engine in only the top-end VLX trim and with rising competition from the Safari which comes with the new 2.2 engine across the variants, Mahindra has announced the VLS variant which will come with the new 2.2 Litre mHawk engine and ABS as standard.

 Essentially Mahindra has replaced the earlier SLX variant which came with the 2.6 litre CRDi with this new VLS with all the specs remaining the same except for the new engine and standard ABS. The move is a part of the exercise of making the 2.2 mHawk variants more affordable and accessible and not just restricted to the top-end numero-uno variant.

The earlier SLX variant with the 2.6 litre engine has been replaced with the new SLE which comes with the same engine but minus some of the features and a lower price tag.

The VLS variant of the Scorpio is priced at 9.16 Lakh Ex-Showroom Delhi.
