MARUTI SUZUKI A-STAR LAUNCHED!

Maruti Suzuki has launched the A-Star in the market today. Like all the popular Maruti hatchbacks now a days, the car comes in three versions - Lxi, Vxi and the ZXi. The top-end ZXi variant comes ABS + EBD (Electronic Brake Force and Air-Bags as standard and rear window de-fogger along with a dash integrated music system with 4-speaker and an AUX-IN to connect your iPods, which is also shared with the VXi variant.
The car comes with Suzuki’s  3-Cylinder, 1 Litre KB series engine with 67 Ps of maximum power @ 6200 rpm and 90 nm of torque @ 3500 rpm. Interestingly, this is the only 3-Cylinder engine currently on sale in the Indian market except for the 800 cc unit in another Maruti, the 800. 3 Cylinder engines are inherently imbalanced compared to a 4-Cylinder unit which is better balanced and it would be intesreting to see how maruti suzuki have taken care of the NVH.
The car rides on 13-inch tubeless tyres 155/80 R13Â and comes with gas-charged dampers, which reacts to bumps instantlty, and hence are better. Front suspension is the universal Mc Pherson Struts and Coil Springs while rear is an Isolated Trailing Link Suspension with Coil Springs.

The car will be built exclusively in India for the domestic market and will be exported to 150 countries accross Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Asia, Australlia and Africa.
The A-Star comes in a total of 9 colors: Azure Grey, Arctic White, Sunlight Copper, Midnight Black, Paradise Blue, Silky Silver, Healing Green, Bright Red and Desert Brown. The A-Star replaces the Alto in Europe and will be named Suzuki Celerio for some markets. Nissan will also market this car as Pixo in Middle East and African markets.

Nice report but:
The 800 shares its (3 cylinder) engine with the Alto as well. And the Hyundai Accent CRDi has a 3 cylinder engine and so does the Skoda Fabia Diesel!
@glif… Accent CRDi is no longer manufactured. Fabia has both petrol and diesel 3 cylinder.
The small car from Maruti Suzuki is on the Indian roads.The first global car that was produced in India exclusively. It is available in 3 variants and carries the price tag starting form Rs 3.5 Lakh, hope this car will shine on the indian roads.

Does Maruthi really want to have business!!
The new A -Star is good looking, but dumb on interior space. Only 4 adults can sit, but not very comfortably. Still if you think you can manage, the car is not worth the price. Its just too high, may be Euro 4 or 5(as the salesman put it).
But should really admire the exteriors, specially the rear. Its got the guts to stand up n say, here i am - take a look at me. But the interior & the luggage space throws you out of the car, especially the back seat does not have enough leg space. Even when you enter the drivers seat, you will hit the steering wheel, even for a person of height 5′10″.
The car has been placed too aggressively in market competing with i10, without forethought.
Reduce the price to 3.7-3.8(Vxi onroad), the car will be a huge succcess or else work on the spacing.
The car ultimately is a dissapointment for a buyer like me, but for an onlooker its good.
No one is even ready to finance, even if they, cost is 14% HDFC & 15% ICICI.
A-Star is a good looking car and the highlight of the car- is the fuel economy. it offers around 19.5 kmpl. It just entered the market.lets wait for it to settle.

i have purchased maruti a star before 3 months . I liked this car because of its performance and riding comfort. Earlier I am having Indica which is having problem of loosing power while riding with AC. A star having no problem if you are with AC or not. I have got mileage of 18.1KM with AC. Now vehicle has covered 300KM without any trouble
