Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is one of the best off-roders in its segment. Unlike pretenders, its a geniune proper offroader with a low ratio gearbox and all wheel drive capability.
Even thought the owners swear by it, it hasnt managed to garner sales for Maruti Suzuki in India partly because of the anemic engine. The 2.0 Litre, 120 bhp engine is throughly outcalssed by everyone in its class, even the diesels under the hood of the Ford Endeavour.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the Vitara again in July’s first week with a 2.4 Litre engine which will enable the ute to compete with others on a level ground. The new 2.4 Litre engine develops a healthy 166 bhp which will enable it to spring from 0-100 kph in about 10 seconds. The new engine will also be Bharat IV compliant.

I wish they had called it the Escudo. That a better sounding name. Hope the new powerful version sells.
