NEW TATA SAFARI CAUGHT TESTING IN SWEDEN!
World Car Fans has spy shots of what is believed to be the new generation TATA Safari. The car is being tested in the colder climes of sweeden.

Sweden and other Scandinavian countries are widely used by various car companies to do extreme cold weather testing. Even the component manufacturers like Bosch test and refine their systems like TCS and ABS here.
We dont know how far this is true because looking at the profile, this looks more like a MUV (Innova) than a SUV. This could also be the new people mover based on TATA’s new X2 platform.

One of the world’s biggest conglomerates, and certainly India’s largest, Tata, has in its motor division a mouse out on the prowl. Tata Motor has highly ambitious plans that may include taking over the world, starting with Land Rover and Jaguar.
But first they have to make this new spied SUV work for them. The Tata Safari, famous for being India’s very first locally designed, developed and manufactured SUV, has evolved to its next incarnation as these spy shots reveal. Snapped while taking a leisurely drive in northern Sweden, it seems Tata is taking its vehicle testing quite seriously.
Available in both 4×2 and 4×4, the Safari was launched in 1998 and restyled in 2005. Originally it featured a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. For such a hefty customer, it would seem the Safari was underwhelmed by this powerplant, hence the introduction of a more vigorous 3.0-litre turbo diesel in 2006.
Safaris currently range from about USD 16,350 to USD 28,480 in the Indian market. By contrast, a baseline Mistubishi Pajero will set you back around USD 47,025.

Hate to sound like a nitpicker, but it’s “Sweden”, not “Sweeden”. Also, your new skin is cutting off about 10% of the content. Good work, nonetheless…
Good scoop. It would say it looks more like an MPV rather than an MUV or SUV. I am not sure if this is a Safari replacement. Thanks for the pictures.
Hey,
the starting line is getting cut off. Good pics. Lets see what Tata does, discontinues the macho SUV and get a MUVish vehicle.
cheers

It looks like an MUV coz modern day SUVs don’t look like bricks anymore. The word of the day is packaging and the design seems to reflect that in abundance.
Looks a lot like Innova.
doesnt look good….an to top it all there is something abpout us being copy cats andnot coming up with originnal ideas…..toyota showed a new way market by both the qualis and now the innova…..the tatas and mahindras should realise that this not what we expect from our leading manufacturers least TATA after bringing in idica and safari..its time to move on and show their competence and not to stick to the old models for 10 years n more …..they should respect the customers and treat us at par with the rest of the world..where every major company changes models 4-5 years of the regular models……I am proud of TATA for the NANO….the indica the safari ..and mahindra for the beautiful scorpio…..but guys we want more ….not just face lifts and copies……
TATA sould give us a new a SUV …….a new safari……and create the kind of magic the safari created when it was launched….it still looks pretty though…..i would wish some of our manufacturers roped in KIA ,their cars are good and well priced the kind of stuff we indians need …as not all of us can afford the more expensive japanese and european beasts…..Hyundai has done well and KIA too has a pretty range to offer……we might also have the chinese set up shop here :)…..well you should see the copy cat version of the BMW X3 and the toyota RAV 4 that the chinese have launched…..they look good and are well priced and are available in europe though the guys in BMW plan to take them to court…well i would not want our companies to follow in the foot steps of the chinese but going by looks TATA copied MERC lines in its tata estate and sumo and even the scorpio has some resemblence the hyndai terracan …..lets wait n watch if Mr Ratan Tata who has won our hearts time n again does it this time as well……
tata safari is most envied and successful designs of the suv market today. but from what it looks like from here is ..it has a uncanny resembelance to the innova..which could spell doom to fan lovers…hope the makers havent messed it big time.
I think its not really like innova may b tata has used this design like tata crossover based on x2 plateform & which is launched in genova motor show 2007.
dude..thats a testing pic of tata xover, not safari
get ur maths rite..at least the geography
