NISSAN LCV’S TO ROLL IN INDIA FROM 2010

Japanese auto major Nissan will start selling its LCV in the Indian market by 2010. As announced earlier, Nissan will sart selling LCV sales in India and US by 2010″, the company said in a statement. The company also hopes to start selling LCV’s in Russia by september this year, it added.

The company has global ambitions as it wants to become the leader in the LCV segment. Working on this strategy, the company will roll out 13 LCV models by 2012 and hopes to double its revenue generated by the LCV business.

“At the heart of the business plan is a substantial investment in new products. Nissan will launch 13 all new light commercial vehicles by the end of 2012,” the statement said.

“Nissan has grown LCV sales to unprecedented records for the brand, and we aim to become a leading player in the global LCV market by 2012,” Nissan Motor Co Corporate Vice President (LCV Business Unit) Andy Palmer said.

Earlier, Nissan Motor Co President and CEO Carlos Ghosn had said it targeted to sell over two lakh vehicles in India in the next four years for which it would leverage from local expertise.

With its alliance partner Renault, Nissan is setting up a plant for passenger cars in Chennai with a capacity of four lakh units per annum.

Nissan also has a joint venture with Ashok Leyland to build light commercial vehicles in the country.
