NO MORE: HONDA CLOSES SPECIAL OFFER ON CIVIC HYBRID

Just days before, we were the first blog to have told you about the new special price offer for the Honda Civic Hybrid and as things stand today, the company has closed the offer already!

The Japanese maker received more than 1,100 enquiries and 235 bookings in just four days after Civic’s Hybrid price was dropped by a whopping Rs. 8.14 Lakhs. The company has already started making deliveries, which will finish by the end of November. The company sold a total of 52 cars in the first month of the launch after which the sales nose dived. In the next three months Honda could only manage to sell around 10 cars.

Honda Civic Hybrid is imported from Japan as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) which attracts an import duty of 104%. It takes around five months for the company to order and then get the cars shipped to India, from its manufacturing facility in Japan. Now with 235 bookings, the company has exhausted all its inventory that they ordered five months back.

The introduction of the special price was our effort to promote this technology. We are very hopeful that with Government’s support for these environment friendly vehicles, a lot more customers would be able to experience this technology in future.” said Mr Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President, Honda Siel Cars India.

No fresh arrivals are expected before March next year the company added. The company has also denied allegation which said Civic Hybrid price cut as an inventory clearing excercise.

The offer was really Hot and of course the company cannot afford to carry the offer for a long time. Offering such a huge discount is not a small thing after all.
