ONE STOP SHOP FOR CARS: INDIA’S FIRST MULTI BRAND CAR MALL COMING UP IN BANGALORE

Various companies have been mulling the idea of a multibranded car dealership but nothing concrete has come out of it as of now yet, but the day is not far. Bangalore will sport the country’s first shopping mall dedicated exclusively to cars of all brands, right from a humble Maruti 800 to the indulgent and expensive Ferrari. Leading auto dealers from all over the city are coming together for this one-of-a-kind Auto Mall. The mall will be spread over 50 acres near the new Bengluru Internation Airport.

The conceptual planning is already underway, the dealers are waiting for a new government to be in place before they go ahead and make a formal request for the land acquisition.

In addition to having all cars under one roof, the mall will also provide for a test circuit, where buyers will be allowed to test drive the car they are looking for. The mall will also provide food courts, family entertainment activities and even a multiplex may be.

The idea is incredibly simple and nice. Instead of visiting multiple dealerships looking around for the car you want to buy, the mall will provide all the brands under one roof. The integrated test drive facility will also help the buyer to make a more objective purchase decision by trying out different cars one after the other in a short span of time.

According to the sources Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Retails is also planning a similar venture, albeit for two-wheelers.

Well it surely wont be the fast multi brand car mall, because there is already one multi brand car mall, which has all cars from a hatchback to the Hummer, Chryslers.

Is Yamaha really serious? Playing around with CC’s that are really not on Indian’s mind and ignoring the ones that look so promising in near future.

Car Mall is the concept that will be requiring a Huge Infrastructure investment.

Idea is big, investment is big, so the opportunity for the developers is also lucrative.

Of course the concept is feasible in order to cut down

the investment cost of setting up the infrastructure requirement

for numbers of showrooms by clubbing all the small unit into one big unit.

Take the example of IT Hubs in Indian markets, different organization come together

and make a Hub kind of thing to make it more feasible in terms of setting the office infrastructure cost.

Car mall would be a Landmark of the city, so the real estate market could take a benefit from it.

It will be a win-win situation for all, the customer, investor, as well as the real estate developer.

For car customers how does it matter what happens to real estate developers and other investors, Shalini? It is well known that malls do not contribute to prosperity of all and neither are they friendly to the environment. They are known to contribute to jacking up of prices and inflationary trends. Gurgaon has been turned into concrete jungle. It is sad that a city’s heritage and architecture are being destroyed in the name of malls. Two examples of these are Bangalore and Hyderabad.
