One Brand new swift hit my car at the when I was in very slow speed the damage caused to the swift was really bad, The radiator, The AC compressor, Engine case crack and more,

But in my Palio there was a small dent on the rear bumper that affected the rear hood lock.

One of my friend have a Getz I didn’t find anything special but the engine is german make it seems.

The build quality & ride quality of Fiat is any day far better than, the delicate Maruti Vehicles.

Guys, Swift, SX4, TATA SAFARI (3Ltr), Tata indica DICOR..all are now running on Fiat Prototype Engine only.. FIAT’s Build Quality and rugged Engine will any day beat the Marutis and hyundais of the world… The Specs of Palio 1.3 MJE is not yet out so i can’t say much.

Hi, I can’t vote any of the car as no one is perfect. Every car has it’s minus points. The engine of all the cars are best. No doubt about the engine performance at all. However as a car owner performance only is not enough to take a call. Total ownership experience has to be considered. Palio is the best hatch in India but has worst service and resale value. It looks much dated and needs total makeover. Swift is small and soft. Rear seat comfort and boot space is worst. It is not as sturdy and strong as Palio. Getz has bit costly. Instead of spending this much one should go for Sedan by adding few bucks. So I am still finding a perfect blend of everything before I give a call to any car.

My vot goes to the Palio 1.3
Its not perfect but its perfect for the price if it comes 40-50k below the price of swift as promised.

FIAT Palio 1.3JTD … The Palio has been the hottest hatch in India for a long time and with the Diesel powerhouse, it just got better…

Obviously GETZ, Its ride quality and build (see european magazines for example drive power in autoexpress where Getz scores better than puntos which is european palio)are far better than the Fiat Palio although the price is on the higher side. Getz has won the 1st price (UK) in 2005 for the cars (survey for cars) which are four years old) with lesser maintanance; no fiats including the much accalaimed Stilo, couldnt even bottom the list.
Also as far Swift is concerned (see the thatcham security november newletter which compares the cars for the damage costs of a car hit at at 5miles/hour ) was the worst of any cars selling in UK. Probably what Shameer said is true!

Only when you drive a Palio…will realize why people are so loyal to it….Its safety, strudyness and cost of maintenance makes it a owners pride….Any day..a Fiat is better than others….Hurray!! Palio 1.3 JTD will rock….!!

Owned & Driven the beast… i cant think about any other car… palio is the best… & now palio 1.3 deisel around the corner… really looking forward to it….

Fiat has to be little(rather much much) aggressive in India & shud take care more about after sales maintenence & service… & i bet no body can beat fiat in india then….. lets hope for the best…

but i never liked hyundai…. be it accent.. or getz…. there is no orginality from these guys…..

stile 1.3 MDJ is an excellent alternative for swift diesel. but fiat should have saftey package and alloy wheels as an option in top end model. I am a great fan of fiat. i have a 2001 palio petrol and i simply love the car for it’s solid tank like build. I feel very safe when driving the car. It has not given me any problems till date and i try to find out rust on the body because it is seven years old but to my surprise there is no rust.The indica diesel which i had earlier started rusting after two years and i have also seen it on my friend’s 2003 lancer. SO FIAT KEEP ROCKING AND IMPROVE AFTER SALES SERVICE

Comparively speaking, the Getz Crdi is a scorcher both in terms of Price and Power but one needs to factor the actual day to day use. You certainly dont need an overpowered vehicle in Mumbai and so why pay for something you can’t use ? So if you think practically, a vehicle with about about 80 HP rating should be fine. We all know that FIAT as a brand takes a beating owing to historical impressions created on the mind.
It is known for its solid build qualities but end of the day if it does’nt translate into sales, its no good. See the BANG which the i10 Hyundai created. It was suddenly launched and aggressive marketing and brand positioning created ripples in the industry. It already has bagged a massive export order. You know what I mean ? The SWIFT is still a favourite owing to its massive service network and the trust built by the Maruti Suzuki guys. No doubt, the SWIFT Crdi uses the same Palio Multijet engine with perhaps a little bit of tweaking, yet I feel the patronage for the SWIFT will be more. The STILE multijet cannot take the sting out of the SWIFT yet. The SWIFT has its own negatives. Its massive rear misguides you into believing that it has a great space inside and the storage. But thats just not true. Besides all Japanese based cars are lighter and hence deliver better mileage but these cars suffer maximum damage in an accident. Aesthetically the GETZ is certainly a KILLER with its sporty looksand non deceptive space. I wish we had the KILLER looks of the GETZ, the service network of the MARUTI and MULTIJET of the Palio all under one brand and one Manufacturer !!! That would be ideal !! Is anyone listening ??

HI Guys, My vote will be to palio multijet diesel , FIAT’s definetely scores over Build Quality , rugged Engine ,performance and safety over swift ,now with network of TATA sales & service backup it would be a excellent choice to lookout for .

If you actually compare(Technical Specifications) Swift VDi engine with Palio Stile Multi Jet its almost the same. Palio might not have a good image in past but i beleive if you on technical ground, it will surely be a good buy. As far as service and speares are concern i have got no idea. I believe TATA supproting FIAT. I dont think service should not be a problem but still confuse which one to pick.

i have been using a palio since 2002.iam satisfied with its perfomance.no ather car can match its comfort ,build quality,supereb drive.its car which you can buy blindfolded.

Palio Multijet. Excellent performance. I had very poor experience with Gear Shift & the harder Clutch. The sales executive says… it will become smoother!!! That was Indica Dicor’s gear & clutch is smoother than Palio’s.

ABS, Airbags, etc may sound attractive for first time buyers, seldom people really know what they are??? the fact is they are all so called safety features which are mistaken as luxury feature by many here,but how much reliable…God Only Knows!!! Then we have the issue of looks esp. interiors of palio if not for the modern gizmo looks like in swift this has high quality plastic,sturdy and more practical. Then we have the issue of resale value, if a buyer is planning to use it for atleast 5 years then he gets the real value for money and final issue is that fiat is in the hands of tata’s who may ignore fiat buyers when they have their own cars in the same segment. But I have a hope that Fiat will make a comeback to India with a large force to back its owners.
So no doubt Fiat MJD will become a hit due to its build quality,spacious interiors,good looks from outside, with an engine which is common in most of the cars hereafter and at a very competitive price below swift and getz diesels.

hi..car lovers i was a big fan of swift disel…i was facinated by its amazing looks…but i m sorry 2 say the day when i saw fait palio disel ..it started rocking in my mind…price was not my concern…i was looking for a spacious and luxury which i found in fait…for outlooks i take swift but for performance i felt better to go with fait..and when i had a test drive believe me guys it was amazing and the same day i booked it in bangalore in concorde motors.

At Present I am using Palio 1.2 P of 2002 make. Earlier I used lot of Maruti brand models like, Omni, 800, 1000 Esteem Zen & Opel Astra 1.6 Petrol. I found this Palio is the best in service as far as the pickup and AC sturdity is concerned. I never felt that I had to change my vehicle. Only draw back in this brand is service factor. Most of the dealers (incl. Tata) were discouraging the service of Palio. Spares were not instantly available. Proper technicians were not there. Spares like Power Steering rack for Palio is costing around 15000/- and we had to wait for atleast 10 days for that to be procured. But now, considering the fuel efficiency factor and service & spares availability factor, I have to go for another model like Indigo or Swift D. Indigo and Swift Diesel are having service centers in every gully. These two are well accepted vehicle. We do not want the vehicle only to run in cities where service and spares are available. This insisting me to go for Swift D.

I am confused to buy a car of diesel version in a range of 50k-60k i read all the comments about swift D, getz, Palio but the thing that is my mind is y fiat is not having its service center if a customer will have to wait for 10 days for the power stiering.
how the fiat is gonna survive like this in future. service has a great impact in this busy world where v hardly have time for ourselves so i think fiat should do something about it becoz i was thinking of buying palio new version but thinking of its service now i changed my mind, if guys like me will change my mind just becoz of service when im getting a good product

I bought the new palio MJD, 1 week back (500kms driven). This is really the smart vehichle, totally driver centric. I went against all the friends advices, who are against the palio spares, resale and service quality. If you want to really enjoy the drive, go for it. Mileage, i need to wait untill second service or atleast 5000 kms. For now i am proud to be the owner of this fiat smart vehicle.

Well the best put together car is the swift diesel. compact better performance than the palio. the divability is also absolutely fabulous. However palio scores on being tougher and more sturdy. swift vdi mileage (18-26kmpl) from city to highway.
palio 1.3JTD (15 to 19kmpl) city to highway.

The Getz actually is in another class altogether. swift-75 bhp, fiat 1.3-70 bhp, but getz-110bhp.
It shares the same engine as verna crdi. mileage 13-18kmpl(city to highway). the getz packs thrilling punch in speed and pick up- 11 sec 0 to 100 km/hr. swift- 13.87 sec and palio-16sec.

I would suggest that u go for a swift diesel for economy sake. or u can buy the getz– unbelievable speed and power. but getz is costlier by almost 1 lakh i guess. hope this helps.

Fiat is good–but slower and resale value wil pinch u. also the interiors are the same as the 2001 car.

getz has a better build quality than swift. but palio is the best.
looks– swift is the best and u can put those funky black headlights and those white alloys and the spoiler and make it look like a macho machine!
