Porsche Might Further Cut 911 Production

After the year end production slowdown from December 22 to January 9 due to flagging sales, Porsche is now contemplating more production cuts as demand continues to be slow.
The company is now cosidering stopping the production for 7 non consecutive days at its Zuffenhausen factory, where the 911 is built.
“We have to think about this if car sales continue to develop like this and do not recover again,” an inside source revealed to Reuters

The manufacturing facility in Leipzig where the Cayenne and the upcoming Panamera are being built, remains unaffected by the cuts.
Other European biggie and soon to be Porsche subsidary, Volkswagen is also strongly considering slowing down production as car makers across Europe scramble to rationalize output to meet low demand for the past few months.
VW reportedly is in talks with union officials and worker representatives for a possible three week production shutdown during the year end holiday period which would affect over 15,000 employees.

How does that help India or the Indian market? Will they move production into India? This is not the type of news one expects to read on cubiccapacity. Sorry to say, but waste of time.
maybe if they weren’t so retarded about burning all their reserves in a botched VW deal and actually give their designers something to do other than redesigning door handles, things may have been different.
Hey, it’s working for Ferrari and last time I checked, they’re on the same recession-laden planet.
