REFRESHED TOYOTA INNOVA COMING IN DECEMBER!
As we reported earlier, the refreshed Innova is coming in December 2008. We now have more details on the update, courtesy AutocarIndia.Â
The front features a completely new grill with chrome slats for premium look, along with a newly designed buldging front bumper. The headlights get the clear lens treatement along with new shaped fog lamps. The changes at the rear are restricted to new tail lights which get the LED treatment.
The changes to interiors are not superficial. The new Innova features more creature comforts like a climate control and a dash integrated CD changer with steering mounted audio controls to appeal to an ever wider audience especially those looking for luxury.
There are no mechanical changes as far as engine or suspension is concerned. The Innova retains the smooth and reasonably powerful CRDi unit and the suspension which is almost a perfect compromise b/w ride and handling as far as utility vehicles are concerned.
With impending competition like the Mahindra Ingenio and Tata’s Indicruz on the horizon, the refreshed Innova might just keep the buyers interest alive.

Nothing much in the new Innova, Toyota you need to give it a more powerful engine.
I live in US, but this car best suits me in India for my family, but I found there is no AUTO TRANSMISSION as an option and the diesel engine horse power and torque is very low to cope up with 8 passengers and AC is on its maximum.
I think toyotas have to work on that diesel engine to get more torque and horse power. 40 HP for liter for a CRDI is way below the industry standars, as these days almost all the crdi engines are producing 70 HP for liter, even the torque should be above 350 NM.
I hope Toyotas will address this.
When the Qualis was first facelifted with a new grille, I thought that the old grille was much better. I get the same feeling with the front of the Innova. Maybe the interiors are better but on the face of it (literally) I prefer the existing version.
This is the first time I have seen this model, so I wouldn’t be able to comment on it much, but what I can say is that it looks like and other SUV.
