REPORT: AUDI Q7 V12 TDI NOT USA BOUND

Audi Q7 V12 TDi Diesel

Audi wont be selling the Q7 with the mighty V12 TDi engine in USA. The world’s first passenger vehicle powered by a V12 Diesel engine with 500 bhp and 1000 nm of torque will go on sale later this year in Europe.

American’s will have to do with the 3.0 Litre Diesel variant of the Q7. The decision was taken by the Audi higher management after sales volume projections and expected demand were deemed too low. This is in stark contrast with the European market where diesel engine cars are in huge demand.

Audi Q7 V12 TDi comes with a turbocharged 6.0 Litre Diesel engine which shoots the big SUV past 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds and on to an electrically limited top speed of 250 kmph. The maximum torque of 1000 nm is available all the way from 1750 rpm to 3250 rpm. All this performance doesn’t come at the expense of fuel economy with the big Audi consuming just 11.3 Litres of Diesel every 100 kms!

The key to all this frugality is the newly developed common rail injection system which pressurizes fuel to 2000 bars. The Q7 V12 also gets huge 21 inch wheels and 20 inch ceramic disc brakes as standard.
