SCARLET FERRARI FEVER TO HIT INDIA IN 2010
Ferrari SpA, the world’s most revered sports car maker may enter India in 2010 as against earlier reports which suggested 2008 as the year scarlet will enter the Indian market. The Maranello and Modena based Italian manufacturer might set up a sales and a marketing network in the country before selling any cars in India.
Talking to reporters Mr. Gabriele Lalli, head of Magic India Discover, Ferrari SpA said: “Ferrari is looking at India and we may enter the country by 2010. Before which, the company needs to set up a sales and marketing network in India. For us customer satisfaction is of prime importance. Hence, we will also have to take care of these aspects before we enter India. We are looking forward to India”.
Fiat SpA which holds 85% percent stake in Ferrari is already present in India and has a JV with Tata Motors in India.
Currently, Ferrari has five models, starting from lower end Ferrari F430 to 599 GTB F Fiorano and the 612 Scaglietti GT car. There are 36 Ferrari’s plying on Indian roads currently which were imported in the country through Ferrari’s singapore hub.
“We have a production capacity of 6000 cars a year and the waiting period for acquiring a Ferrari is about a year”, said Mr. Lalli.
The Magic India Discovery Drive got underway from Mumbai on February 25th, 2008 and were in Kolkata on Monday. The tour will cover a route stretching more than 13000 Kilometers, spread over 74 days and 54 cities.
The cars featured in this tour are two 612 Scaglietti, Ferrari’s flagship Grand Touring model. The same cars were also featured in China Red Miles tour which completed in the year 2005 covering a total of 15000 Miles and also the panamerican tour in 2006, both of these tours being hugely successful.
