SCOOP: Mahindra Scorpio Facelift Revealed!
You saw it first on cubiccapacity
Mahindra & Mahindra will launch the facelifted 2009 Scorpio very soon in the Indian market. We can reveal all the details much before the launch thanks to one of our reader who has sent us these pictures.
The front bumper is now more muscular and aggressive and hold a pair of smartly designed larger fog lamps. The front grille is now bigger with a chromed central tooth, a new Mahindra design element which started with the Bolero facelift, Xylo and now to the Scorpio. The air dam contrasts with the colored front bumper complete with mesh thrown in for good measure. The projector type new headlights have a slightly different profile and come with integrated LED lookalike blinkers! The rear view mirrors are completely redesigned and can now be adjusted electrically (thank you Mahindra!)
The side profile is unchanged except for the new body cladding with smoother surface and ‘Scorpio’ embossed on the cladding on the rear door, a bit over the top frankly. The changes to rear are also minimal with a slightly redesigned bumper with integrated footstep. The interiors are largely the same with some functional changes like a dashboard integrated stero and a new gear lever. Overall the new Scorpio certainly looks more upmarket and the build quality also seems to have improved.
The new Scorpio will be available with the 2.2 Litre mHawk engine only. The 2.6 Litre engine is being discontinued.

Looks good. Why the bulky bumper?
That grille, my god! M&M is getting more&more garish by the day. The 4×4’s a good move though I wonder how they’ll price it.
The bumpers looks good eventhough it is bulky. The grille reminds about Bolero. If 2.6 ltr engine is discontinued that is bad news for performance freaks.
Hope Mahindra will bring out a 4×4 Auto Transmission Scorpio too.Why dont they remove the rain guard (channel) on the roof side, which looks outdated .
I was never a great fan of the looks of the Scorpio. It always seemed divested of any personality. In fact, my dislike for the Xylo purely is out of the Scorpio grille. I am sure there can be better interpretations for the grille. The grilles are not ugly like in the Hyundai cars, but totally insipid.
All new Mahindra Scorpio! Looks like Mahindra is all set to foray the SUV market in India. It has already rolled out the different versions of Scorpio and all are great success. Hope the new features that are speculated comes true.

I think Discontinuation of 2.6 is a good idea. not only is the 2.2 more powerful but also more cleaner n efficient than the 2.6. on the whole the refresh model looks better than the old one, though the bumpers do look a bit bulky. besides a change in the rear lamps wud also b welcome. its been too long since v started seeing the existing one.
There is already a Scorpio VLX Automatic 4WD available for an astronomical price (approx 11.5 to 12 lac)
