SCOOP PICTURES: FACELIFTED FIESTA AND IKON ON THE WAY!
Fiesta has been in the market for a while now, couple that with its understated styling its beginning to look a little dated now. Ikon has received facelifts along the way, but the cheaper Ford is without a doubt well past its prime.

In a bid to rejig interest, Ford will launch the facelifted version of the talented Fiesta and value for money sedan Ikon, shortly. The changes are not drastic and the basic body shell for both the car remains the same, whats new are the all new front and rear bumpers and minor changes to the grille, headlights and tail lights. Although there is no information on an interior upgrade, we are sure the insides will be garnished for better look and feel. Ikon is expected to receive a total interior revamp. Have a look at the scoop pictures closely, only the bumpers and headlights are covered and fiesta’s twin lamp treatment is still the same. The fiesta also sports a new rear spoiler which might be reserved for the Sxi version.
Ford may also announce a new diesel engine for the Fiesta, reports suggest a 1.6 Litre Diesel engine to replace the current 1.4, which although very refined and fuel efficient, lacks outright power and is a little out of breath on the highways. Even the cheaper Indica Dicor and Swift are faster in a straightline, along with smoking hot verna diesel, Ford might just take the plunge. Speculation are also ripe that the smaller 1.4 Diesel motor will get into the engine bay of the Ikon. It will be a master move by the Ford if that happens, since it will have all the bases covered then. Ikon with fresh styling and new interiors with the fuel efficient 1.4 diesel will sell well and will compete in the lower end of the sedan segment with the likes of Indigo Dicor, Logan and the recently launched and hot selling Dzire from Maruti, while Fiesta with the 1.6 diesel will take care of the upper end of the diesel sedan market.

I don’t think anything can resurrect the Ikon. In the case of the Fiesta it seems too little to sustain an interest among buyers.
hmmm…..dey need 2 increase d interior space as well…
I think Ford needs to improve its after sale.
Cheers

Ford started its downward run some 4 years back and something out of the hat should lift there sales as of now. With falling market sentiments & global inflation, owing to crude oil prices, fuel efficient cars can only make a head way.
