SCOOP:TATA LOOKING TO BUY A STAKE IN MV AUGUSTA!

 mvagusta.jpg

Hot on the heels after its purchase of Jaguar and Land Rover and making their intention clear of buying a stake in the italian design house Pininfarina, the Tata’s are now considering buying a stake in MV Augusta. According to few Indian and Italian sources, Tata Group Chairman, Mr. Ratan Tata is in talks with Claudio Castiglioni, the man who own MV Augusta and Cagiva brand of motorcycles.

Based in Varese , Italy, MV Augusta is the Ferrari of the motorcycling industry, manufacturing high-end, high-performance superbikes which are some of the best in the world both in form, as well as function. The F4 Tamburini is one of Augusta’s iconic model and among the most expensive bike in its class. The company however is facing financial troubles for sometime now, which in turn means less money towards new product development and has also shelved its plans of going racing in the world superbike series.

With Tata’s coming into the fray and the subsequent cash infusion, the company can get a new lease of life, given that company has released a few breath taking bikes even when its not doing well financially. Volkswagen has also showed interest in buying a stake in the company. With two big wigs in fray the future looks bright for the Italian manufacturer.

Valued at US$11.4 billion, Tata was recently ranked 57th among Top 100 brands listed by Brand Finance, a UK-based company focused on brand management and valuation.

What is the source of your information?

Why does it look so very similar to this: ****************************************************************************

Is this reliable? I for one cannot fathom why the TATA’s would want to go into two wheelers? Also Claudio Castiglioni will not let go of full control of MV Augusta or Cagiva. If it all this happens it would be interesting to see what reasons the TATAs will give for this stake acquisition.

@Av Satish…. They are looking into buying a stake and not complete acquisition or even a majority stake in the company.

Then in that case you should clearly acknowledge the source(s) of your information. This is important if the content is not self generated (as in the case of a road test).

Once you acknoweldge the source, you are free to add your views to the original content.

Also why did you mask out the AutoBlog URL in my original comment?

If you had so much insecurity about readers heading over to another blog by reading my comment, you should have deleted my comment entirely!

Am still waiting!

1. Please give due credit to the source of your information!
2. Unmask the URL.

Surprisingly the “masked” URL **** has only 76 characters, while the original one I posted had 84! So much for “auto” masking!
