Indica Vista is here, already selling well, so the Indigo Vista(?) can’t be too far off. This is the first picture of the all new Indigo which will be in the showrooms by March 2009.

As with older car, the new Indigo will feature lengthened wheelbase which means even more room for the occupants inside and different engines to seperate it from its hatch sibling. The front fascia will remain more or less the same with the same gorgeous upswept angular headlights but will have dollops of chrome helping necessaryto get that upmarket look. The rear tail lamps are vertically stacked while the ill fitting boot looks a lot like the current Indigo’s which leads us to believe that may not be the final design. We might see some changes or the other in the production version.

It won’t be fair to comment on the looks at this point of time but as things stand, it looks quite staid and lacks design flair. We really hope that Tata designers deliver the goods when we see the final production version.

That apart the new Indigo will feature the more powerful VGT version of the 1.3 Litre quadrajet engine in the Indica Vista with 90 bhp on tap and a brand new 1.4 Litre twin-cam petrol engine, again from Fiat.

The new Indigo will be price aggressively starting from 5 Lakhs for the base version and while the recipie looks perfect, its the execution which lets the Tata Motors down. We sincerely hope that the new Indigo comes with better appointed, better quality interiors to match others in the segment, something which has always been Tata’s achilles heel.
