Spy Shots: 2011 Audi A1 Is For Real!

These are the first spy shots of the new Audi A1 caught going around the block. The new premium hatchback from Audi will take on other premium offerings from Germany like the Mini Cooper and will offer several different variants just like the Mini family.
According to an insider the line-up would consist of a three door (the one spied), a five door, a cabriolet, a possible coupe or a roadster and even an SUV. The heavily camouflaged car manages to show off the front grille and the headlamps detailing which will have the trademark Audi LED’s. Powertrain options are open with capacities ranging from 1.2 to 1.8 litres and a 200 bhp output for the performance ‘S’ variant. A mild hybrid or even a full electric may also be available in the due course.
The A1 is a part of Audi’s larger plans to boost its model lineup to 40 by 2015 as well as expanding its production facilities, as reaffirmed by the CEO Rupert Stadler a number of times. The car may or may not come to USA at launch since the customers in USA are not yet at a stage where they would part with premium money for a hatchback Audi but even then the possibility cannot be ruled out completely.

the Q5’s front is going to b audi’s family luk or wat?seems very similar to Q5 from te front..cars like mini ,fiat bravo,smart,1series and now audi A1 makes little sense to anyone outside te europe i guess..but audi mite b followin a gud strategy here,by developing even a mini suv based on te A1,which they can easily sell in markets like india..tough times require tougher measures:)
It is nice Audi built some competition for the EOS which is already selling poorly in the US
I think Mini has it’s own nitch with this market.
