SPY SHOTS: MERCEDES BENZ E63 2009
![]()
The launch of the all new Mercedes E-Class is just around the corner. Based on an all-new platform, W212 in Mercedes speak, the mildly disguised car was caught testing by the spies from the Auto Magazine, Car. The new CLS will be also based on this platform
The changes in styling wont be as drastic as BMW did with the 5-series, instead the profile is typical Mercedes Benz and looks like the small brother of the S-Class. The version caught testing was the E63 AMG sports saloon, apltly clear with the big wheels, quad exhaust pipes, a distinct bodykit and huge brake discs all around.

Very noticeable under the disguise are the CLS inspired headlamps, the stylised rear wheel arch. The new platform will go back to basic engineering with conventional hydraulic braking system, four link front suspension along with a multilink rear controlled by M-B’s ABC (Active Body Control). The higher spec models will also feature Airmatic suspension and car will come with a slew of new engines, starting from the modest 1.8 litre petrol to 6.2 litre AMG sledgehammer! The model lineup will also feature a diesel hybird, E300 bluetech engine coupled with a hybrid system which will see the car combine performance and efficiency (55.4 MPG) like no other in its class.
The new E will also feature some cutting edge electronic gadgetry like electronic road sign reading system, a more sophisticated voice activation system, night vision from the S-Class and even a pop-up bonnet for those who like to bump-park, that can be reset without requiring a visit to the garage!
The new E is expected to make its debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March with sales beginning later that summer and may be India bound later in the year.

there was a rendered version of this. It had a beautiful dual square like headlights.
I actually did not like the artists impression of the car with dual sqaure head lamps. I hope that they do not make it into production. The design of this car looks ok but then it seems a little rear heavy.
