With the acquisition of more than 50% stake in Norwegian company Miljø Greeland/Innovasjon, Tata Motors have given the final push to launching the Indica EV in Europe in the year 2009.
Unlike other electric cars in the market, the Tata Indica EV will be a more practical proposition for the consumer: capable of carrying 4 people, adequate luggage with a predicted range of upto 200 kms. The performance will be adequate as well with the company keeping the 0-60 kph acceleration times in under 10 seconds.
The Tata Indica EV will use super polymer lithium ion batteries which have superior energy density compared to the current best-in-class electric vehicles. The car is curretly undergoing testing and development in Europe for further refinements.
Tata Motors might also launch the Indica EV in India, especially after the Delhi Government announcement of tax and duties cut for selling electric cars in the Capital.
