TATA NANO PASSES HOMOLOGATION TEST AT ARAI
![]()
While the production still hasnt begun, the little wonder from Tata Motors is busy clearing all the other hurdles in its way. Tata Nano has successfully passed the homologation test conducted at Pune’s ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) which means it passes all the specified criteria for roadworthiness laid out by the government which include emission, noise and vibration. The clearance certificate was handed over to Tata Motors last week which means that Nano can ply on Indian roads.
According to sources Nano during its duration of testing with ARAI managed to average 24 kmpl under standard test conditions. The car is expected to deliver 20 kmpl with its 623cc twin cylinder petrol engine with 33 bhp of power. The car also confirms the Euro IV emission standards which will come into effect in India by 2010.
Nano will be the first car in India to display the actual fuel mileage recorded at ARAI tests on its windshield. The little car was subjected to more than 100 tests over 4 months test duration with ARAI, Pune.

At the top speed the car hits and the time it takes to do its top speed, the 800 will give almost similar fuel mileage.
my 800 has never given me more than 18 to 20kmpl on highway while in city it was around 16kmpl. if this one gives 20kmpl in city than it will be awesome..
