Tata Nano To Be Launched By June ‘09
The much awaited people’s car from Tata Motors, the Nano will be launched in the Indian market by June ‘09.
According to reliable source the trial runs are already over and 120 vehicles have already been built. Tata Motor’s Rudrapur plant has already started the production of the Nano from January 2009 onwards. The plant has a capacity of 2.5 Lakh units.
The same sources also say that the intial launch would be in selected cities only while Nano’s brand new plant in Sanad-Gujrat will start manufacturing only by November ‘09.
The car would come in three versions - Standard, Deluxe with A/C and as ironic as it may sound, Luxury variant with body coloured bumpers and A/C.
Sources also say that 600 luxury versions will head for dealer showrooms by Jan ‘09, which is almost over with no signs of the car coming, while 1200 vehicles would be produced in February ‘09 and around 1500 in March ‘09. Tata Motor will start rolling 4,000 to 5,000 units by April 2009 onwards.
There are also talks of a diesel version coming in the market by 2011 which to us is very late. Given that Tata Motors is already working on the diesel variant, the diesel version should be in the market as early as mid 2010.
