Volkswagen has launched the all new 1.2 Litre TSI engine at the 2009 Vienna Engine Symposium which can now be ordered in the Polo, Golf and Golf Plus. Speculations also have it that the new engine will also be used on the upcoming Audi A1 and possibly Skoda and Seats products too.
The 1.2l TSI engine features friction optimizations, lightweight aluminium construction and is equipped with state-of-the-art engine technologies like direct injection and a turbocharger. The engine delivers an impressive 105 bhp and a whopping 175 nm of torque from 1500 rpm onwards, impressive for such a small capacity petrol.
VW has completely re tuned the direct injection system for smoother power delivery and lower emissions. These features have already been implemented on the 1.4l TSi which has been awarded the prestigious “Engine Of The Year” award for three years in a row since 2006.
The engine may also come in the Indian version of the VW Polo which is all set for an early 2010 launch.
