Ferrari has just unveiled the 2009 Ferrari California hardtop convertible in Maranello live via the internet. Although California assumes an entry level’ ‘baby’ supercar in the Ferrari line-up, the looks and the specifications can make anyone go weak on knees.

The Ferrari California comes with an all-new direct injection 4.3L V8 engine with 460 ponnies at you command. The advanced engine gives a massive 30% reduction in fuel consumption (although this wouldn’t matter to a prospective Ferrari owner but thanks none the less!) and a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of under 4 seconds! The engine also emits 305 g/km of CO2 making the California one of the most environmentally reponsible supercars.

Aside, the car comes with a 7-Speed dual clutch tranmission with four seperate settings , advanced aerodynamics, latest version of the F1-TRAC traction control system and magneto ride control system to make it one of the most enjoyable yet practical supercar of our times.

The official website prepared for California’s near midnight arrival first showed the perspective of a single hand-held camera looking down an italian road bringing the anticipation to an all-new level as the car’s arrival looked imminent but its was not be and instead was replaced by a techno dance and song sequence. After a while the moment that everyone was waiting for arrived as the 250GT inspired beauty came in with F1 Legend and Ferrari Regular Michael Schumacher behind the wheel. It was his baby too as the F1 driver had helped Ferrari develop and fine tune the handling.

“The car is an attempt to combine the eminent sporting potential of all Ferraris with the comfort and practicality of a daily driver” he said, the best way to describe the new Ferrari.

Being the baby of the Ferrari range its also the cheapest, starting at $ 1,90,000 only (pun intended!) and is sure to boost Ferrari sales and give the brand a wider clientele. The car will also be displayed at the upcoming Paris Motor Show on 2nd October.
