YAMAHA UPGRADES THE ALBA 106CC MOTORCYCLE
Â
Yamaha Motor India has announced the launch of New Look 106 cc 4-stroke bike Alba. Â
Increasingly competitive, Yamaha India is leaving no stone unturned as it hopes to turn around its fortunes in the Indian 2-Wheeler market. Launched in 2007, Alba has not been a success with the 100cc segment being completely dominated by TVS Star, Hero Honda CD 100 Series and Bajaj’s Platina. The 100cc motorcycle segment still holds around 50% of the total 2-wheeler market and Yamaha is in no mood to ignore it.
“A lot of emphasis has been laid on shaping Alba for maximum comfort of the rider and its premium features will give consumers a new thrill in biking pleasure. Alba delivers comfort, style and solidity, which will make it the right choice for the discerning customers, “said Mr. Takahiro Maeda (Executive Vice President of Yamaha).
Yamaha Alba is a low maintenance bike with high fuel efficiency. It is priced at Rs. 37,500(Ex-showroom-All India) and the bike would be available in two colours - deep red metallic and Yamaha black.

Intersting to note that Bajaj have exited this segment with the 125cc XCD.
Cheers

What are we supposed to make of Yamaha? They keep relaunching the same bikes again and again even though they have proved to be complete failures. Adding a self starter or adding alloy wheels and calling it a brand new model is not going to work.
