what did you say? The LARGEST, BEST and most SERIOUS bike manufacturer in the world?
Well even after gulping down an entire bottle of wine I dont gather guts to make this type of mockery of myself. Wondering how many did Mr. Hondaaaaaas gulped down his throat
Honda should stop behaving like Hero Honda
yawnn….c’mon Honda,we are fed up of seeing the same old unicorn….nxt gen unicorn pls
I didnt know Honda outsourced their design/stickering/market research to some lowest bidder in china..
What was Honda thinking?? Do they expect to compete with the FZ16 with this sorry excuse of a sticker job? Looks to me like Honda’s lost the plot.
Enough honda… Got bored of al ur colored Unicorns.. Get us something new!!!
Real time crap!!!!!!!!!!!! Honda is wasting a gem of an engine ……. Fi, rear disc and karizma like faring will do wonders for Honda. Honda please wake up!!!!!!!!!
HOPE WE GET A PROPER ANSWER TO FZ16
“What next Honda…. a Rainbow Unicorn?”
Haha, glorious!
FZ16 is what the new unicorn must actually have been. these sort of stuff is what attracts younger generation buyers; not a lousy j.c road sticker job OR naming a bike “NXG”!!.
being a 2007 unicorn owner this just blows my mind off.
HOW CAN THE WORLD’S LARGEST BIKE MAKER BE SUCH OBSCURE DUDS

ITS ABOUT TIME THEY BRING OUT SOMETHING SPECIAL RATHER THAN PLAN FOR ANOTHER 100cc BIKE.
i would like TO SEE HONDA to replicate a hornet for india, just the way yamaha did with the fz1
Those colors resemble the old suzuki gsxr 750 (1980’s) than a honda.
HONDA UNICORN SPORTY!!:razz:They had tried lot to makeup this gentle man :cool:but they should advertise about unicorn more . this beauty is hidden.
Agreed the colour combination is terrible, but I think people should try and see the reason behind not having to change the engine… For all their so called technology and other gizmos, the Unicorn has never really fallen out of favour in the Indian market… It is easy to blame Honda for doing nothing in the market without having actual experience of owning such a beauty and yet another thing just talking about it…
Honda has its own reasons for supposedly creating “obscure duds” as someone put it and they may not be immediately evident, but one should at least thank them for starting the technology race in 2004 when they first launched the Unicorn… Honda’s innate ideal is to bring forth quality without too much advertizing.. “Let the quality speak for itself” as one of the managers mentioned… And true to its word, there is NO Indian bike below 250cc that can equal the Unicorn in refinement… Its a fact that few can refute and a HUGE strength considering the poor quality stuff that most other “Indian” manufacturers dish out to their customers…
And, last of all, for those who think I am a Honda manager - dream on… I own a Pulsar and an Apache!!!
try to bring the new side of UNI……………CORN plz im purchasingthe second bike tokae just for the colors(white n blue)
I so love the unicorn’s ride quality and the super refined engine ….. but it looks like a middle aged man’s bike , there is no visual appeal whatsoever for young bikers …
I seriously fail to understand what is wrong with the designers@Honda … why it is so tough for them to figure out that a decent facelift can do wonders to this otherwise awsome machine.
Subject: UNICORN vs FZ16
Well As far as performance is concerned , unicorn engine & carburettor comes tuned for best mileage then pickup(Still the pick-up is too close to fz16). If you want more power you can simply get your unicorn carburettor tuned(from honda dealers only plz! ! ! !) for more power performance with mileage compromised bit by bit.And for more power blast just install a K&N AIR FILTER WORTH Rs.1800 IN NEW DELHI
&
A SPARK PLUG NAMED “NGK-cpr9ea-9″ ,
open up your unicorn manual ,it is the one recommended by honda itself for extended speed riding and you can get it for around Rs.550 from HMSI gurgaon only.
Now with above modifications you will get a power of 17+horse power(almost equal to karizma) and 45+ mileage (still more then fz16) and nothing will void warranty of your engine .
LOOKS :
Its the character of the bike that signifies super smooth and mileage efficient engine with comfortable riding position.(OBVIOUSLY
QUITE BORING BUT PRACTICAL)
TO MAKE IT MORE EXCITING:
You can easily get a fat tubless tyre for Rs.1500(rear)(ceat & mrf)
get an engine cover of karizma max. cost Rs1500(not sure for exact cost)
Steal some graphics from HONDA UNICORN GP EDITION (This bike is still not as mucular as fz16 but is more eye catching then fz16 just because of those graphics(AS I THINK IT SURE IS . . . .))
YAMAHA FZ16:
FOR PERFORMANCE ,DO THE REVERSE OF ABOVE FOR BETTER MILEAGE , IT IS AS SIMPLE THAT.
LOOKS:
Its the rough and tough , raw character of the bike that we wrongly call it as Gud-looking(WE actually like raw character of FZ more then practical character of UNICORN)
Both the bikes are equally gud-luking for me.
VERDICT:
The total cost of power packed unicorn(delhi on-road):
58500 (bIKE)
+1800 (AIR FILTER)
+550 (SPARK PLUG)
+1500 (TUBLESS FAT TYRE)
+10,000 (MAX. TO MAX. Rs.5000-8000)(for graphics job)
=Rs.72350
Yamaha fz16 costs Rs.72000 on-road (approx.)
Power of unicorn faaaaaar more then Fz16
Mileage still a bit more then fz16
Looks different(charater wise) , I like the character of fz16 more then unicorn but still i would say if i had to buy a bike again after my current 4 YEAR OLD UNICORN i would again buy a unicorn instead of fz16.
Vibor:
Thanks for the details. I am a middle aged man thinking of buying a bike after 15 years of only using cars. In my bike driving days RX100 was my favorite, and was thinking FZ16 would be a approximate substitute. But, looking at your article it is clear to me I don’t want FZ16. I don’t need the ‘looks’. I don’t need torque (as with RX100) either, as my reasons for buying a bike would be sedate personal driving for nearby locations, where I don’t want to pull out the car. Unicorn seems to be perfect for me.
hahahahahahahahh honda sucks they want to say this third bike can beat fz16 fuuuf these guy gonnaa mad
believe me brother
when it comes to sheer performance of the engine , honda unicorn is unbeatable in the 150cc segment.
Fz16 performs a little better then uni(in the initial speeds only) with a great compromise on mileage but the top end pwer of uni is still unbeatable by the 160 cc engine of YAMAHA. No 150cc bike in the world i repeat in the world can give better pick-up or mileage then unicorns engine , and i can bet on it.
Apache shifted to 160cc and now 180 cc , similarly bajaj will phase out 150cc with a 180cc pulsar , leaving the 150cc segment alone for the unicorn to rule.
Just wait and watch ! !
i dont say yamaha is a bad brand , it is very good and better then bajaj and tvs but honda is much much better.
HARKOL
May be its a bit late.
A guy like me don’t have even a single reason to go in for yamaha fz16 , for a simple fact that to make the bike look cool , yamaha has compromised with every other important aspects of a good bike like fz16 has
1. poor long-ride comfort.
2.poor fuel efficiency
3.poor stability in the top end speeds.
In short apart from looks , everything is poor and that also at non-sensible price.
Now unicorn , well confess it it is not as youthful and fun to look at like the fz16 but is not inferior either. The looks of unicorn justifies its practicality and high performance and stable ride , uni is the performance master (wheather it is pick-up , mileage , stability , comfort etc.) and the jack in looks department.
It does make sense if we think that Unicorn may outperform FZ 16 for the simple reason that FZ 16, for its sturdy and great looking body and thick wheels, comes with a miniature 153 cc engine which by no means can carry that kind of a load conveniently.
People are tired of waiting for Yamaha making a bike that goes in the tune of 180-200 cc or above engines but Yamaha has been too stingy with the capacity and doesnt seem to understand that people want bigger engines and more power.
Cubic capacity does not make any sense. On road performance is what matters.
I am a gr8 fan of yamaha R15 , the way its FI engine makes 17 bhp and outperforms any 220-225 cc bikes out their .Bajaj is very good at marketing(fooling us) their products. 21 bhp of the latest 220 cc pulsar delivers only 15-16 whp to its wheels same as the whp(wheel horse power) of R15 . You can also wait for honda cbr150r having 150cc 18bhp of power and that too with a carburettor only .Even i am longing for that bike. Hey! ! i dont know when will it be launched .Japanese are very surprising with their new launches. However if a considerable number of fans requests for a particular model in india , honda definitely looks into the matter very seriously.
happy riding neways ! !
i drived both unicorn and fz and for todays city riding condition fz 16 is the better bike unicorn cant be compared with fz 16 , fz 16 engine is well refined and its the best pick up bike in its class 150 cc segement good work by yamaha if people want to buy performance bike then its yamaha , people looking for mileage can go for unicorn ……
That’s what i said
Fz is better in initial speeds only after that its unicorn all the way
So if you want a fast city bike go for FZ , otherwise Unicorn
